for advice, and they decided to take “no further action” in 21 of those cases.
There were six successful prosecutions with two further trials discontinued due to
the offenders being too ill to stand trial. One other case was discontinued at court.
During this investigation, 163 victims alleged that they were subject of abuse.

86 persons have been arrested during this investigation to date.
It is the policy in this case that all matters are referred to the Crown Prosecution

action” in 73 cases, and additionally, 42 cases have been subject of NFA decisions by
the SIO without referral to the CPS.
To date, there have been 29 successful prosecutions and eight acquittals.
During this investigation, 697 victims to date have alleged that they were subject

for advice and they decided to take “no further action” in 22 of those cases. The CPS
agreed with the SIO’s decision to take NFA on a further 117 allegations of abuse.
Following the investigation there were two successful prosecutions and two
acquittals.
During this investigation, 179 victims alleged that they had been subject of abuse.

The investigation commenced in January 2000 and ran for two months.
During this investigation, five victims alleged that they were subject of abuse
however following investigation no further action was taken by the Police. No persons
were arrested in this investigation.

There were 37 further investigations that only involved one victim in each of those
cases. There were no prosecutions or acquittals in any of those cases, with “no further
action” being taken either by the Police or the CPS.
Force: Suffolk Police
Case Number: 1
The investigation commenced in October 1998 and concluded in February 1999.
One person was arrested during this investigation, and the case was referred to the
Crown Prosecution Service for advice, following which they decided to take “no
further action”.
During this investigation, 10 victims alleged that they had been subject of abuse.
Case Number: 2
The investigation commenced in August 1999 and concluded in October 1999.
One person was arrested during this investigation, and this case was referred to the
Crown Prosecution Service who decided to proceed with the case. This case was,
however, withdrawn prior to trial.
During this investigation, two victims alleged that they had been subject of abuse.
Force: Surrey Police
Case Numbers: 1–6
This force has investigated a total of six cases during the relevant period as
detailed below:
1. June 1998–March 1999
2. November 1998–March 1999
3. June 1999–July 1999
4. October 2000–January 2001
5. May 2001–on-going
6. June 2001–on-going
In the above investigations a total of eight persons were arrested.
There were four successful prosecutions and there have been no acquittals.
During the investigations, 25 victims alleged that they were subject of abuse.

Force: West Mercia Constabulary
Case Number: 1
The investigation commenced in September 1998 and concluded in January 2001.
Two persons were arrested in this investigation.
Cases in relation to 11 individuals were forwarded to the Crown Prosecution Service
for advice, and they decided to take “no further action” in all cases.
During this investigation, 32 victims alleged that they were subject of abuse.
Case Number: 2
The investigation commenced in December 2000 and is still on-going.
No persons have yet been arrested in this investigation and to date 12 victims have
alleged that they were subject of abuse.
Case Number: 3
The investigation commenced in March 1999 and concluded in May 2000.
Four persons were arrested in this investigation.
Cases in relation to the four persons arrested were forwarded to the Crown
Prosecution Service for advice, and they decided to take “no further action” in three
of these cases.
There was one successful prosecution and no acquittals in this case.
During this investigation, 12 victims alleged that they were subject of abuse.
Case Number: 4
The investigation commenced in October 1998 and concluded in May 2000.
One person was arrested in this investigation.
This case was forwarded to the Crown Prosecution Service for either advice or
following charge, and they decided to take proceedings.
There was one successful prosecution in this case.
During this investigation, 22 victims alleged that they were subject of abuse.
Case Number: 5
The investigation commenced in April 1997 and concluded in October 1999.
Two persons were arrested in this investigation.
Cases in relation to the two individuals arrested were forwarded to the Crown
Prosecution Service for either advice or following charge, and they decided to proceed.
There were two successful prosecutions and no acquittals.
During this investigation, 70 victims alleged that they were subject of abuse.

The investigation commenced in September 1999 and concluded in September 2000.
No persons were arrested in this investigation.
Acase in relation to one individual was forwarded to the Crown Prosecution Service
for advice, and they decided to take “no further action” in that case.
During this investigation, eight victims alleged that they were subject of abuse.
Case Number: 7
The investigation commenced in May 1997 and concluded in July 2000.
Nine persons were arrested in this investigation.
Cases in relation to 12 individuals were forwarded to the Crown Prosecution Service
for advice, and they decided to take “no further action” in 10 cases.
There was one successful prosecution and one acquittal.
During this investigation, 17 victims alleged that they were subject of abuse.
Case Number: 8
The investigation commenced in November 1997 and concluded in March 1998.
One person was arrested in this investigation, however following investigation no
further action was taken.
During this investigation, 130 victims alleged that they were subject of abuse.

These two investigations have only recently commenced and data is available at
this stage.
Force: West Midlands Police
Case Number: 1
The investigation commenced in January 2000 and is still on-going.
To date, six persons have been arrested.
Cases in relation to all of the above were forwarded to the Crown Prosecution
Service for either advice or following charge. Three cases have proceeded to court and
advice is awaited on the remaining cases.
To date, there have been two successful prosecutions and one other person is
awaiting trial. There have been no acquittals.
During this investigation, 138 victims to date have alleged that they were subject
of abuse.
Force: Wiltshire Police
Case Number: 1
The investigation commenced in November 2000 and is still on-going.
