Looking
at the McAlpine question in the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal. In any
investigation victim testimony is crucial but children are not reliable when it
comes to identifying people who are not in their circle.
This is
why initially it falls to the Police to follow every lead and find
the truth. In this case Steven Messham handed the North Wales Police hard evidence actual photographs of the abusers. The police informed Steven one of the abusers was Lord Aliastair McAlpine. Following this the police lost the incriminating photographs. Or so Steven Messham was
told.
On the
8th of November the Mirror reported that:- "Photographs of men
abusing boys in the North Wales paedophile scandal were deliberately destroyed
by the authorities. Sian Griffiths worked for Clwyd Council in the inquiry
office on the 1994 Jillings and six years later on the Waterhouse inquiry which
looked into the systematic abuse at the children’s homes.
Sian Griffiths revelations
She told ITV News that victim Steve Messham’s photos of alleged abuse were ordered to be destroyed.
Mr
Messham says photos captured lots of men raping boys, including a prominent
Conservative figure he accuses of abusing him.
He says
he could see men’s faces clearly, but the police said they could not identify
them from the pictures.
Ms
Griffiths was asked: “Messham talked about photos that he had of abuse taking
place. Do you know what happened to them?”
“We were
supplied with copies of court documents…there was an order made for the book of
photos to be destroyed.
“So
Messham’s photos of alleged abuse…were destroyed?
“They
were. Well that’s what’s in court papers – official documents.”
That
could have been vital evidence?
“It
could. Yes.”
The next
day after this admission. Police called Steven in and we are
told showed him a photograph. On seeing this photograph Steven went out and publicly apologised to Lord Alistair McAlpine It is now agreed that the abuser was in fact Lord McAlpines, conveniently deceased, cousin Jimmy McAlpine who lived in North Wales where his family had raped the countryside through Quarrying.
If we
could be shown the photograph perhaps we could understand why the photograph
proved Lord A McAlpine was not the abuser of Steven Messham but his cousin
Jimmy McALpine was. And if Jimmy McAlpine was known to the Police as a child rapist why was he never arrested and questioned?
During the Waterhouse inquiry into the North Wales child abuse Lord Alistair McAlpine engaged the services of a barrister to attend the inquiry, as a watching brief, in case his name was mentioned. Why?
Jimmy McALpine

This extract about J McAlpine is re-blogged from The Slog https://hat4uk.wordpress.com/tag/north-wales-care-home-abuse/
I hate to be the first to observe this, but
lest we forget, James McAlpine was related to his Lordship, and there
has to be a question-mark over why the innocent peer Alastair McAlpine
didn’t come forward earlier. The idea that Lord (Alastair) McAlpine
didn’t know Jimmie – and wasn’t aware of his proclivities – is only
credible if one accepts the concept of the former being deaf and blind
to family matters for five decades. Jimmie chaired Alfred McAlpine, and
the current Lord McAlpine is a cousin.
There seems to me a strong possibility that
Alastair kept quiet to protect the family name. So when he says today
that he is “saddened that the media could sink so low”, I’m not sure we
should take that assertion entirely at face value.
Founder Alfred McAlpine’s son Robert handed
the North West/Wales leg of the family business over to Jimmie in the
1960s. Jimmie’s penchant for juvenile chauffeurs was infamous, and
numerous residents in the area surrounding Penrhyn (where the family
bought an enormous slate mine) are quite certain he was responsible for
multiple cases of care home and other youth-establishment abuses in the
Wrexham-to-Chester belt of Britain. The general view there (accompanied
by an accepting Welsh shrug) is that, as he was a prominent and
influential resident at the time, Plod predictably touched a forelock
and left him to continue on a merry dance of rape and ravish."
Although
the allegations against Lord McAlpine were first published in Scallywag over 20
years ago and have existed on the internet for years, it is only now that Lord
McAlpine has threatened to sue
The Rich and Famous can easily use Super Injunctions and the High Court to
stem criticism.
Child witnesses
would never be prosecuted for getting a name wrong either in the Civil or
Criminal Courts. But an Adult risks prosecution in the Criminal Courts
for perverting the course of justice. And risks loosing a libel action because
to win a libel action Steven Messham would have to prove Lord McAlpine abused
him to win, because the burden of proof is reversed in libel
law. Steven would also need about £800,000 to even think of defending such an action against someone as rich as Lord McAlpine.
Lord A McAlpine
Lord A McAlpine
Which means that unless the Police take action poor people cannott win against rich people and clearly the Police had no intention of arresting or questioning Lord McALpine or his Cousin Jimmy over the serious allegations of child rape, allegations first made over 20 years ago.
But Steven Messham said " After seeing a picture in the past hour of the individual concerned, this is not the person I identified by photograph presented to me by the police in the early 1990s, who told me the man in the photograph was Lord McAlpine.” So it was the Police who led Steven Messham to believe the man who abused him was Lord McAlpine. Why? Also the Police reveal they knew who the child abuser was and left him to abuse more children for another 25 years, There is definately more to be revealed

Why was the victim shown a photo by the police and told it was McAlpine? Did the police have their suspicions? If the victim identified the person in the photo as the person who abused him, why was this not investigated by the police? Why was this victim not allowed to raise this at the Inquiry?

Your questions need an answer from the North Wales Police and the Judge and Legal Professionals who ran the Inquiry!
ReplyDeleteThe Police are remarkably silent about identifying Lord McAlpine to Messham. There is certainly more to come.
So why doesn't Messham look at some more photos and identify this other McAlpine?
ReplyDeleteThis is the establishment closing in to protect itself and use its money and power to clamp down on investigations.
Ad zorb zod A very good question. I would like to see the photographs.
ReplyDeleteThere is a very good chance that if there were photos taken, there are still some out there, somewhere, floating around, in someones attic, or on secret internet networks like Tor. The pedophiles cannot control themselves and will obsess over this stuff forever.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is - who do you want to investigate this stuff? The ordinary journalists like the ones at ITV who broke the Savile case, by carefully and sensitively interviewing victims, corroborating stories, fact checking, and editing? Or conspiracy weblogs, who just throw out a bunch of names and gossip, not caring to do any of that hard work, nor caring what consequences their actions have?
I have recently been reviewing the information on the North Wales children's homes scandal in the light of the Jimmy Savile allegations. I found out that Steve Messham was beaten up twice when he was a potential witness against Supt. Gordon Anglesea. It would not be difficult for somebody to jog his memory regarding these earlier assaults in relation to his identification/proposed testimony against Lord McAlpine, and whilst this does not prove that he (McAlpine) is guilty, at least there is some doubt as to whether he was aware of his cousin's activities. Unless it is all a big co-incidence!
