When David Cameron announced in 2012 that he was reopening the investigation into North Wales, my life fell apart. My 9 year relationship broke down over the first few weeks, as did the doors holding back the demons.
To stop the demons, I decided I would do what I have always done when the **** hits the fan - bury my nose in a book.
Welcome to Institutional Child Abuse 101 ;)
The map was created focusing on Greystone Heath as a starting point, although I now realise it should have been Red Barns in 1950's, with Peter's' Howarth and Righton.
Over the last 60 years, paedophiles have been allowed to infiltrate every rung of the ladder needed to facilitate access to children.
From Residential and Field Social Workers right up throughout the ranks of Local Councils, Police, Teachers, Doctors, Politicians and the people behind the scenes, the ones we all know actually run the show, the Civil Service and Policy Advisors.
The 1950's and '60's saw the emergence of a widespread sickening trend within Residential Social Work.
The systematic abuse of children within the commercial and public Children's Homes, Approved Schools and Boarding Schools.
In the 1970's and '80's, the pioneering advisor on Residential Childcare and Social Work was Peter Righton.
Whilst it was always an unvoiced joke in the “Old Boys Club's” that if the Master's didn't have you, the Head Boy certainly wouldn't want to know you, a “jolly good time” at prep school followed by a stint at Eton before “OxBridge” was considered the norm.
According to Professor Joy Schaverien, a leading psychotherapist,
“Children sent away to boarding school can suffer psychological damage akin to being taken into care.
"Boarding School Syndrome" can leave adults struggling to form intimate relationships and unable to communicate emotions after being traumatised by forced separation from friends and family at a young age.
Despite the damage, therapists fail to recognise the significance of boarding school in their patients' problems because such an education is still regarded as a character-forming privilege.”
45 years on and nothing has changed other than the name. Childcare and Safeguarding Policies are still being produced by people under suspicion of crimes against children.
The Government accepting these policies were, for the most part, tutored by or schooled alongside paedophiles, leaving them almost immune to the signs of child exploitation.
The information issued by Authorities on CSE is misleading at best and our children are still at risk.

In 1965 at Greystone Heath, a 21-year-old student teacher named Keith Laverack started work there and embarked on a campaign of buggery and indecent assault. Over the ensuing four years, he raped at least 16 boys, three of whom he shared with his colleague;
Brian Percival, the clerk and storeman at the home. Once these two men had established sexual rights over the boys at Greystone, other abusers joined the staff;
Alan Langshaw, who raped at least 24 boys;
Dennis Grain who raped at least 18, joined Greystone Heath from Danesford children's home in Congleton, where he had already opened the door to three others, John Clarke, Joseph Smith and Brian Hudson;
Roy Shuttleworth who raped at least ten;
Terence Hoskin;
Jack Bennett who indecently assaulted two;
Steve Norris who assaulted an unknown number.
The Greystone abusers then fanned out.
Grain and Shuttleworth were both promoted to other homes in the Warrington area.
Terence Hoskin went on to become headteacher of St Aiden’s Community Home in Widnes, where he liked to thrash naked boys with a cane, which he then pushed into their backsides, while his housemaster, Colin Dick, indecently assaulted those who caught his eye.
Following a complaint, Dick was accused of indecent assault, but was acquitted.
Hoskin moved on to become President of NCH – Action for Children by 1980. Hoskin later wrote a reference for Colin Dick effectively stating he was no risk to children and a suitable candidate for the position of Residential Social Worker at a home in Manchester;
In 1981, both Grain and Hoskin were back working together at homes operated by the Hesley Group Limited, in Doncaster before Grain then moved on to Eton College;
Steve Norris went to North Wales where he met up with Peter Howarth.
Howarth had started out in Kent before moving on to Axwell Park. He was then recruited by Graville Arnold and moved to Bersham Hall in Wrexham. Norris and Howarth both went on to Bryn Estyn and met up with Gary Cooke.
Following a conviction for abusing boys in Bryn Estyn, Gary Cooke was then employed by Bryn Alyn Community, where he first worked at Marton's Camp and then Cotsbrook Hall in Shropshire. He later took position at a Probation Service run Youth Hostel.
Keith Laverack went to childrens’ homes in Cambridgeshire, where he worked with numerous colleagues, four of whom are now also suspected of abusing children. He eventually moved on to run the Guardian Ad Litem panel in Cambridgeshire. This job not only introduced him to the most vulnerable children in the area but also gave him access to files on abused children all over the country.
Alan Langshaw became Principal of St Vincent’s Catholic boys’ home in Formby where he recruited a care worker named Edward Stanton.
Alan Langshaw was jailed for 10 years in 1994 for 30 counts of serious sexual assaults and indecent assaults against boys aged under 16 at childrens homes in Cheshire and Liverpool. However when the first accusations were made around 1986 Edwina Currie, the Minister responsible for the child care system, was asked to intervene. She stood by Langshaw.
Langshaw went on to spend another eight years working and abusing children.
This is not the first or last time Edwina Currie has shown such poor judgement in people. When asked about her choice to hand Savile the keys to Broadmoor she insisted that;
' If this meant we could break the strike and help the patients,
then the ends justified the means.'
When asked about Savile's abuse of the mentally ill inmates she replied;
' If I'd have known, I would have said
" Jimmy give me the keys," and it would have stopped.'
Edwina Currie was very open when she admitted she knew Morrison had sex with 16-year-old boys when the age of consent was 21 and that he had been protected by a ‘culture of sniggering’. In her diaries, she called him ‘a noted pederast’, with a liking for young boys.
“Peter Morrison has become the PM’s PPS. New he’s what they call ‘a noted pederast’, with a liking for young boys; he admitted as much to Norman Tebbit when he became deputy chairman of the party, but added, ‘However, I’m very discrete’ – and he must be!.”
She also went on to give Jimmy Savile the keys to Broadmoor, an unqualified paedophile, DJ and hospital porter, friend of one of the hospitals most notorious inmates, Peter Sutcliffe.
Norman Tebbit had little choice in admitting openly, he was aware of Morrison's involvement with young boys as early as a decade before it became public knowledge.
Stanton appears to have got the job at St Vincent's through Roy Shuttleworth, who was continuing to abuse the boys at Greystone and who is believed to have known Stanton from their time in Birmingham when they took the same course in residential child care.
That course was lectured by Peter Righton, a notorious paedophile who attempted to legitimise his obsession in a series of academic studies.
Righton, for his part, belonged to the Paedophile Information Exchange, which wanted the age of consent lowered to four; along with Jack Bennett. He had also worked in the same children's home in Maidstone, Kent as Peter Howarth.
A child care expert and children’s home consultant, Righton published essays justifying paedophilia, which he called no more mysterious than “a penchant for redheads”.
Rod Ryall, the former Director of Calderdale Social Services, convicted in 1988, is also thought to have taken the Childcare Course along with Malcolm Phillips, convicted in 2001 under Operation Screen for abuse spanning decades at Skircoat Lodge, Halifax.
Ryall, who sat on several committee's with Righton, began his career at Newton Aycliffe before moving on to Tennal Assessment Centre in Birmingham.
When he was appointed Director of Social Services he had already been accused of crimes against children twice.
It is thought, when arrested, he was found in the private flat attached to Skircoat Lodge Assessment Centre, operated by Malcolm Phillips.
As head of the Assessment Centre, Malcolm Phillips had the final say in which placements were used if a child was to be sent to another Borough. Under his regime of tyranny, it is believed that “difficult” children were sent, by Social Services, to five currently identified external Borough units;
Newton Aycliffe (secure);
St Williams, Market Weighton (boys only);
Bryn Estyn (secure; until its closure in the 1980's);
Bryn Alyn Community (only sent girls although it accepted both);
Macclesfield Young Persons Unit (part of Parkside Mental Hospital; closed in 1992-4)
No known complaints were ever filed about abuse at this facility, run by Dr Peter Wells.
However, during a telephone conversation early 2014, conversation turned to the closing of the Young People's Unit. He distinctly recalled making several car journeys to the main nuthouse to deposit boxes of files within the catacombs. He remembers stacking the boxes in a room and then locking a door before leaving.
Three years later when Parkside closed, only one box related to the Y.P.U was passed to Cheshire archives.
Duncroft
Every year, two "gals" from Duncroft were taken on camping trips to Brancaster, Norfolk, via an overnight stay at Professor Bell's house in Cambridge (linked to his employ within the University).
The following day, a brief stop in Kings Lynn and onward to meet up with other girls from a variety of institutes across the UK.
The camp setup was based on the Guides model

Bryn Alyn Community
Opened in the 1960's, Bryn Alyn Community housed "difficult" children from 42 local authorities.
The fees were all negotiated through Wirral Council. During the process, Wirral failed to actually inspect and assess the facilities, staff or setup.
Fully funded by Kenneth Henry White, the Company quickly expanded.
Despite all properties flagged for seizure of assets, Kenneth John White still owns Bryn Alyn Hall.
For thirteen years he ran a nursery on the property, following its closure as a children's home.
In 2013 the final files still in existence from Bryn Alyn Community were all burned.
Fire is a common theme with the private-owned children's community.
In 1992, Adrian Johns died in a fire in Brighton. That property was owned by Nicholas van Hoogstraten.
Van Hoogstraten is known for his business empire as well as his controversial life story: in 1968, he was convicted and sent to prison for paying a gang to attack a business associate. In 2002, he was sentenced to 10 years for the manslaughter of a business rival; the verdict was overturned on appeal and he was subsequently released, but in 2005 he was ordered to pay the victim's family £6 million in a civil case. He has been estimated to be worth £500 million, although he claims his assets in the UK have all been placed in the names of his children.
In 1995 most of the children's records being transported from the Inquiry team to the Courts were destroyed in a Pickfords furniture packing and shipping warehouse in Chester.
The warehouse itself has been subject of three fires in recent years.
It is still owned and operated by Pickfords.
When John Allen was finally paid off in the 1990's, prior to his arrest, his settlement from White senior was valued at over £500,000 pounds.
His personal loans and business loans (provided by White senior) were wiped out (£210,000)
Company Car released (£10,000)
Company interest in a Brighton property, villa in Bordeaux, yacht
#2 (£200,000)
Gloucestershire cottage (£80,000)
£36,000 in return for all shares in the Companies.
The company purchased numerous properties over the 30 years it was in operation;

Gatewen Hall
Bryntirion Hall
A property in Trevor Street, Hightown, Wrexham
A property in Poyser Street, Hightown, Wrexham

North Wales Abuse Uncovered for the Waterhouse Inquiry
I went back to Bryn Alyn Hall on Saturday 20th April and saw a single storey building in the process of being renovated.
My recollection of this building is that it contained the woodwork room and another couple of classrooms.
As we walked around the outside of the building, I could see paperwork in the windows, both loose sheets and files/folders.
The building looked as though it had been out of use since Bryn Alyn shut in 1997.
As we walked further across the driveway and round towards what is signposted as "Alyn Lodge" I noticed a distinct lack of horse.
What had been 10-15 horses in November was down to a meager 2, despite the warm weather.
Further round towards the footpath down to Wilderness, I noticed a lot of fencing was being replaced and a huge bonfire had been built, burned and was again in construction, as wheelbarrows of rubble and paperwork from the building were being dragged across the drainage ditches.
Update 16th November 2013:
Following a visit to Bryn Alyn by another victim, there are no longer any horses on the property.
John Allen had links with Michael John Carroll in Lambeth. The two friends maintained regular contact and in 1991, after it was no longer possible for Carroll to work with children, he bought The Hand Hotel in Chirk, just outside Wrexham, for £725,000.
Quite a sizable sum for a simple care worker.
Comments
Then we have the likes of Colet Court which feeds into St Paul's, both owned by the Worshipful Company of Mercers.
Coincidently, Theresa May is a Mercer.
Although he retired from political life, he is still active within the Trade union, Unite.
In Islington, his counterpart was Margaret Hodge, wife of NCCL Chairman Henry Hodge.
Most of the following would have happened whilst he was in charge of the Council.
Detective Inspector Clive Driscoll led the operation until late 1998 – early 1999, exact dates await confirmation; this operation was the precursor of Operation Middleton.
Operation Middleton was a wide-scale pro-active operation investigating a number of allegations of sexual and physical abuse alleged to have taken place at a number of children’s homes in Lambeth between 1975 and 1994.
The operation was led by Detective Superintendent Richard Gargini, in charge of a team of detectives based at the 5 Area Crime Operational Crime Unit, Cavendish Road police station, and took place between November 1998 until June 2003.
Battersea Home, meanwhile, was victim of Abraham Jacob.
Ivy House
Monkton Street
The list goes on....
Abraham Jacob, a known associate of Jack Straw, Ted Knight and Margaret Hodge, had worked at Battersea Children's Home until arrest and conviction in 1974 for indecent assault on a young boy.
By 1986 he was working in an old people's home by day and the focus of Operation Circus by night.
Trawling Piccadilly Circus, train stations and amusement arcades, he targeted young boys and took them to Wimpy bar in Piccadilly and sat them by the window for burgers and drinks as business-men picked which they wanted, paying between £10 and £40 for a young boy.
It was thought he had been running this set-up from before his conviction.
Michael Carroll, a known associate ofJohn Allen (Bryn Alyn Community), started his career in 1960's in Wirral, joining the staff of the children's home he had just left as a resident, and was convicted for crimes at St Edmund's in Bebington, in 1966.
In 1978 he got a job as Social Worker in Lambeth. By 1981, he was in charge of Angell Road Children's Home.
In 1986, he and his wife applied to become foster parents with a view to adoption, at which point his previous conviction was discovered.
The Council were informed and he as placed on a disciplinary charge. The Inquiry that followed, Chaired by David Pope, decided to leave him in charge at the Home. He was finally sacked in 1990after it was discovered he had defrauded the Council by spending £300 of money intended for Angell Road, on alcohol and cigarettes.
The events in Islington represented a systemic failure of the whole social services department, which had had a good reputation until around 1982, when the newly elected Labour council decided to set up a revolutionary new structure of devolved management, with 24 neighbourhood offices. This devolved structure led to a chaotic system in social services, with what were later called “confused lines of accountability”. Record-keeping was spread between the local offices, and this made it very difficult for social workers to keep up with “clients” who moved around the borough, or to follow up allegations of abuse.
There was also experimentation with equal opportunities policies on a grand scale. While the central management on many aspects of services may have been weak, the diktats of the personnel department on equal opportunities had to be obeyed. For example, if social services managers decided that a particular post required five years’ experience in a children’s home, this could be overruled by the equal opportunities policy, which could dictate that a far less qualified person should be taken on because otherwise the selection process was discriminatory. Moreover, managers making an appointment could not insist on a reference from a previous employer and could not challenge the references given on the basis of the status of the referee (in other words, an applicant could get away with references from two friends). Muddled management procedures also meant that it was not always clear who was the appointing officer, and appointments could, therefore, be made by a group of residential home managers, thereby increasing the likelihood of collusion over appointments.
With the normal checks no longer available to those making appointments, Islington became wide open for sexual predators to move in, and the lax procedures were systematically exploited by determined men seeking to use the children for their own ends.
21 of these are still active today and have at least some connection to Thomas O'Carroll, ex P.I.E member.
His correspondents included an assistant bishop, artists, aristocrats and public school teachers.
Barnardo's was involved in migrating 30,000 children and young people to Canada between 1882 and 1939. This agency sent around 2784 children and young people to Australia between 1921 and 1967.
Children's Friends Society
As many as 230 children arrived in Canada through the auspices of the Children's Friends Society.
National Children's Home (NCH - Action for Children) - formerly National Children's Home and Orphanage
Records show that between 1873 - 1931, a total of 3,600 children migrated to Canada from Britain through the National Children's Homes and Orphanages child migration scheme.
Fegan's Child and Family Care - formerly Fegan's Homes
Around 3,166 boys were migrated to Canada between 1884 to 1938.
Quarriers - formerly the Orphan Homes of Scotland and Quarriers Homes
Around 7,000 children were sent to Canada between 1869 and 1939.
As the members of P.I.E spread out, their contacts grew. New networks began linking in. Some of them operated byJohn Stamford who went on to be involved in not only Spartacus and P.I.E but also Toro Bravo, PAN and CRIES
( The National Institute for Social Work – NISW – was a provider of services aimed at achieving excellence in practice and management in social work and social care in the UK and past employees include Sir Peter Barclay – Author with Righton of the Barclay Report – Sir Williiam Utting – Author of the Utting Report – Daphne Statham – Director – Dame Denise Platt – Chair of the Commission for Social Care Inspection – Barbara Hearn OBE Panel member on Independent Inquiry 2014 )
He added in his letter to the D of Ed that to be doubly certain he ( Righton ) had sought a second opinion from a well known child psychiatrist who concurred with his expert opinion
The psychiatrist in question was Dr.Morris Fraser, another convicted paedophile and PIE member who wrote a supporting report on Great Ormond St headed note paper
He was able ( by his own admission in a number of letters to Righton over many years ) to abuse countless number of boys in Sweden and Egypt over many years in the late 70’s through the 80’s until 1992 when the arrest of Righton and the discovery of these letters led to his ( Napier’s) immediate dismissal
The idea was formed by Paul Gautier, a leading psycho-educationalist at the time, following a trip to Canada.
Nick Stacey, the Director of Kent social services, formed the steering committee and funding was received from the Gatsby Trust, part of the Sainsbury Foundation.
They received £60,000 over a three year period.
£15,000 per year of this was spent on the Director salary.
The Steering committee consisted of:
Nick Stacey;
John Rea Price, Islington Director of social services;
Mary Joynson, Barnardo's;
Janet Mattinson, Tavistock Centre;
Godfrey Godfrey-Isaacs, Peper Harow;
Peter Righton, Director of social work education, National Institute of Social Work;
So far, the only people I can find trace of that took the course, have all been convicted paedophiles.
